the Hongkong Volunteer Reserve shall vest in the Administrative
Commandant of the new volunteer corps. This will transfer the
property of the two existing bodies to the head of the new body.
12. The provisions of the First Schedule and its Appendices do not
seem to call for any comment in this report, with the exception of regulation 5(i) and 6(1) of the First Schedule which have been
referred to above.
13.
No age limit has been fixed for retiring, as it was considered that many men would prefer to continue to belong to the corps in case their services might be required for some sudden and serious
energency. Men who have attained the age of 50 years,
however,
will not be required to do any training, but they will remain in
the organisation and they will possess arms and equipment.

In my opinion this is an Ordinance to which His Excellency the Governor may properly assent in the name of His Majesty and
on His behalf.
