My telegram of erst January in cypher.
Portuguese Consul at Canton has informed the
Governor of Macao that two men of war have been
despatched from Canton to Macao. Presence of a
British man-of war would I suggest, be salutary.
Commodore however cannot act without instructions,
and (?Admiral) is away.
