Sir,
With reference to Major Brown's agent, I have the honour to request that you will be so good as to inform me if you have received a copy of my application for relief from liability to serve with the Military Forces in Hong Kong (334), which was forwarded through the usual channels to General Headquarters.
I was due for 9 months' leave on half pay on 4th January, 1918, but would like 4 months on full pay to enable me to pass certain examinations for promotion and prepare for the requirements of my military service.
In the event of the exigencies of my military service not permitting this, I have permission (marked "B") to apply for transfer to the Royal Army Medical Corps for as long as may be necessary.
In the latter case, my inclinations are high, I think, and I will do all that is required of me by both services, but I would much prefer the former course.
