I beg most respectfurly to slate that in January 1873. twenty' men from the Metropolitan Police Force London valentiered for service in Hong Kong. We arrived in the Colony March the 10 # 1873. our pay was $40 per mouth at that timme the Mexican trade dollar was wort 4/6. but as the
years passed on it fell, to of and a fraction per dollar, so that when the time came to retire our small- savings were considerably reduced when exchanged into English money However, that was our misfortune so of Course we could not complain - We have managed to live all through this, Cerrible
