Extract from Air Ministry letter

The Under Secretary of State,

Colonial Office,

Sir,

London, S.W.1

30, Cardigan Road,

Leeds,

June 19th, 1919

27287

[Received 6 MAY 17]

I have the honour to acknowledge receipt of your letter number 21547/1919 of May 7th, in which it is stated that service in His Majesty's Forces is reckoned, and does not count as service for purposes of earning leave. In this connection I beg to point out: (a) That during the whole of my service with His Majesty's Forces I have been drawing pay from the Crown Agents for the Colonies. (b) that whereas my service in the Colony amounts to 2 years 6 months and one, my service with His Majesty's Forces amounts to 1 year 7 months; and so presumably is not leave in the ordinary sense of the term.
