I am directed by the Lords Commissioners of His Majesty's Treasury to acknowledge the receipt of Mr. Grindle's letter of the 28th slig (10.32030/1919) relative to the retirement of Mr.E.J Pierpoint from the Hong Kong Prison Service, and to request you to inform Viscount Milner that Their Lordships have been pleased

to award to him in respect of his Home Service a pension

of eight pounds and seven pence which the Paymaster General has received instructions to pay as from the

12th December last.

My Lords do not regard it as necessary in this

case for reference to be made to Hong Kong as regards the

question of the total amount of pension to which Mr.

.J. Pierpont would have been entitled had the whole of

his service been in the Hong Kong Prison Service.
