I am directed by Viscount Pilner to inform you that, subject to your being passed by the Ledical Adviser to this Department as being physically fit for service, he proposen to select you for appointment as a Nursing Sister in the Honglong Medical Department with salary at the rate of 2110 a year rising after three years' service to 1130 per annumM, for purpose of payments in the colony salaries fixed in sterling are converteu into dollars as to 80, at the rate of 1/9d and as to 20% at a rate fixed by the Government and based on the average exchange value of the dollar during the month ending on the 16th day of the month for which salary is to be paid.
2. It is to be understood that your engagement is for not more than four years from the date of your arrival in the Colony: and that, if it is established to the satisfaction of the Governor that you are not qualified for efficient service there, he will, subject to the confirmation of the Lecretary of State, have full power to cancel your appointment at any time within the mid four years without giving you any further compensation than a pasange back to England,
