With reference to your letter of 7th October
(55140/1919) and the enclosures, I am directed by the
Board of Trade to state for the information of Fiscount
Milner that no cases exactly similar to those of the
Portuguese employees of German firm in Hong Kong, have
arisen in connection with the enemy businesses In
respect of which winding-up orders bære bem nađe in
this country. In certain cases, howevar, the
employees have lodged claims with the Controllers
under agreements for service betwem them and the
enemy firms or companies, and in those cases it las
been the practice of the Board of Trade to instruct
the Controller to obtain the authority of the Count
before any payment has been made in respect of such
claims
