TRADING WITH THE MEMY AMENDMENT ACT 1016

In the Matter of Direction Der Di sconto-Gesellschaft.

Deutsche Asiatische Bank,

I now beg to enolose, as requested, statement of Balances

of the Deutsche Asi stische Bank in the books of thie Bank in London

made up to 16th instant with Interest and Commission running, as

shewn at foot thereof.

No.

I have already returned to you the Board of Trade File

7463 which you left with me for my comment, but I should like to

observe that with regard to the second paragraph of the letter from

the India Office to the Colonial office, the arrangement proposed

for payment is of course still appropriate to the position as it is

to-day, but obviously the amount payable increased from day to day

owing to the interest charged thereon. The letter from the

Management of this Bank dated the 12th February last was written

under the direction and with the approval of the official

Supervisor, and I would draw your attention to the indebtedness

therein disclosed there is due to the London branch a further sum,

at present not exactly ascertainable owing to the taels and merks

which probably were deposited with the Deutsche Asiatische Bank by

firme indebted to the London Branch of this Bank under guarantee of

the Deutsche Asiatische Bank which accounts may or may not have been

remitted to Germany before the entry of China into the War.

Finally you will observe that the Management of the

London Branch with the approval of Sir William Plender asked for a

Telegraphic Transfer on London, in order that no time might be lost

in obtaining funds.

I am &c.,

(sd.) Wm. Cash, AGENT.

for H.Brougham, Controller, appointed under the Trading

with the Enemy Amendment' Act 1916 (50.) 7.CASH.
