Sir,
| January, 1919.
reference to the correspondence ending with your
letter No.52690, dated the 9th November last, on the subject of the proportionate payment out of the surplus assets of the Calcutta, ¡ Hong Kong and Singapore branches of the Deutsch-Asiatische Bank
of debts due by other branches of that bank to the British
establishment of the Di sconto-Gesellschaft, I am directed by the
Secretary of State for India in
Council to forward a copy of
on Board of Trade dated 25th November, .th first enclosure.
Board of Trede, dated 9th December. rom Hr. Cash, dated 16th December, .th enclosure.
Mr.Cash, dated 18th December,
the correspondence noted in the
margin, from which it will be
seen that the sum of 224,597:19:7 has been paid by this office, as from the surplus assets of the Calcutta branch, in settlement of the outstanding account.
The Government of India will now be asked to report as soon as possible the figure to be taken as representing the available assets of the Calcutta branch for the purpose of dividing the above sum proportionately between the three branches concerned, and I am to suggest that the Governors of Hong Kong and the Streits Settlements should be asked for similar reports, in order that a final adjustment between the branches may be affected.
I have the honour to be, Sir,
Your obedient Servant,
