Speaking of the 0.8.5, rechis a stange date of smugg❤
ling by the "Kaijo Haru". This vessel arrived on the
15th; April with sight unmarked packages from Maji, cover= ed by a bill of lading for nine packages, namely four con- taining gas pipes and five containing shafts, totāl value Yen 3000, shipped by one purporting to be Shirai shi. stated sight of these packages arrived on the 15th. April, namely three of gas pipes and five of shafts,
No con- signes appearing to claim, these packages were sent to the Customs for examination, when the gas pipes were found to be stande før Hotelkiss gune, and the shafts were fittings for and parts of nine Hotchkiss guns. These articles
have been detained by the Customs, together with the mis
ing case of gas pipes which arrived per "Kaijo" on the 29 the April; It seems strange that the Moji Customs
should have passed these things without examination.
