acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 5th instant,

18438/19 transmitting copy of a despatch from the Officer

Administering the Government of Hongkong with regard to the

establishment there of a branch of the Bank of China, and

to enquire whether Lord Milner desires that diplomatic representations should be made to the Chinese Government

on the subject.
