Brushwood Clearing

The Officer Administering the Govern ment recommended the Louncil to vote a sum of one thousand dollars ($1,000) in aid of the vote Botanical and Fores try Department, other charges, Brush- wood Clearing.

THE CHAIRMAN The vote was 81,500 but the P.W.D. required a great deal of clearing done in connection with new roads.

The vote was agreed to.

Castle Peak Road

The Officer Administering the Govern ment recommended the Council to vote a sum of one hundred and five thousand dollars ($105,000) in aid of the vote Pub lie Works. Extraordinary. New Terri- tories. (41) Roads: (a) Shamshuipo to Castle Peak, Section Tsun Wan to Castla Peak 20 feet wide.

THE CHAIRMAN-The total cost of the road was $433.307. The expenditure in 1918 was $213,000 odd leaving $220,000 to be wet in 1919. The vote for 1919 was $115.000 and the difference between the $115,000 and $220,000 is the sum now re- quired. The first part of the road was done at a very cheap rate and the amount of rock in the further parts of the road|

could not be foreseen and especially the amount of sliding rock which had to be cut away and propped up. On one sec- tion the road cost $37,580 a mile and on another section 41,000. The total cost of the road works out at $30,000 odd per mile.

Typewriter for the Land Registry

Office

The Officer Administering the Govern- ment recommended the Council to vote A sum of one hundred and fifty-two dollars and cents eighty-six ($152.86) in aid of the vote Judicial and Legal De- partments. .-Office of Land Registry, Special Expenditure, Typewriter.

Pcaoc Celebrations

The Officer Administering the Govern- ment recommends the Council to vote a sum of four thousand seven hundred dol- lars ($4,700) in aid of the vote Miscellan- eous Services, Peace Celebrations.

THE CHAIRMAN--The total cost to the Government was $13,080, out of which $8,500 has been voted. This money is to close the account.
