My Lord,
2.
With reference to Your Lordship's Despatch
No. 123 of the 21st. March, 1919, and to previous correspond- -ence, I have the honour to inform you that I have had under consideration the question of service of the Police Officers who were recruited on disbandment of the Hongkong Regiment.
In view of the decision of the Army Council that they are not prepared to make any allowance towards pension of men whose service in the Hongkong Regiment was only of short duration I consider that it would be reasonable that the Government of Hongkong should allow such service to count with their service in the Police Force for
pension purposes. There are now only four men who would be affected and though the small increase in their pensions would be of great benefit to the men concerned the cost to the
Colony would be very small.
3.
Should Your Lordship concur in my proposal
I would be glad to receive your approval by telegraph to enable the pension of Lance Sergeant Khair Mahomed to be computed.
I have the honour to be, My Lord,
Your Lordship's most obedient, humble servant,
tud Jevern
Officer Administering the Government.
