HONGKONG, 23rd. May, 1919.
Masers. Jardine Matheson & Co., Ltd.,
General Managers, Indo-China S.N. Co., Ltd.,
Dear Sira,
HONGKONG.
Having seen the notice in the papers regarding
the new "Order in Council' as to Aliens in Charge of british ships and as this very seriously affects my future career I an anxious to know how I stand as regards my future in
the Company.
Although my whole life has been spent in British ships and a few years in Africa, where I fought in the Boer War I was born in Sweden of Swedish parents, so my care seem pretty hopeless unless some exceptions are ade for
men like me.
I have 10 years service to my credit with the Indo-China and I have served the Company loyally all these
years.
I explained about my nationality when I signed the Agreement in London and was told that it would not make
any difference to my promotion.
for me.
I shall be very grateful if you can do anything and thanking you in anticipation, I beg to remain,
Yours, 40.,
(sd.)
C. W. Falk.
