Dear Looker,
Hale is leaving in December so it will be necessary to
try Hamilton's libal actions in November, if at all.
I mould be very glad to settle the actions if possible,
as a trial will only waste time and money.
As you know I had no personal animus against Hamilton:
my object was to spur the Government on to the provision of
telephones, and that object has been achieved.
I am quite willing to apologise to Hamilton in any
reasonable way, provided the apology is not published in
the newspapers, and that all the actions are withdraw, • ach
party paying their own costs.
