2 Your Petitioners desire to emphazise the following points which will be found evidenced by the enclosures sent

herewith :-

(a) That owing to the efforts and enterprise of and

at the risk of your Petitioners the Tai Yan Steam- ship Company and your other Petitioners a dis- organized and casual public Ferry Service was organized improved developed and carried on to the great benefit of the travelling public, The public

need for such a service is demonstrated by the

yearly number of passengers carried.

(b) That by reason of the greatly improved Ferry

Services of your Petitioners the whole of Yaumati, Samehulpo and the adjoining districts have been opened up, popularised and increasingly populated, enhancing the value of the property to the advan-

tage of the Colony and its Treasury.

(c) That by such service an enormous number of the

public were carried with regularity, with safety and with cheapness over a long series of years. (d) That your Petitioners in organizing and conducting
