I am obliged by your letter 60311/1918, of the 24th,
Since June 25th, when I forwarded to you a copy of the
letter received fram Mr, Cownie, Managing Directer of the
National Electric Construction Company which is the one the

Hong Kong Government have under consideration the Armistice
has been signed and the whole sutlaak is entirely altered.
The only financial prepesal made in that letter was
with reference to the sale of land pending the formation of the
Hong Kong South Land and Railway Company, but as very early action
can now be taken, the proposal for dealing with land as a temporary
measure, is now unnecessary.
Kr, Cownie informs me that it is most undesirable te
delay taking action, and judging from the Hong Kong press, the
question of development is a very urgent one. I therefore suggest
that it might facilitate matters if the Hong Kong Government
could state by telegram exactly what further information they require.
It would probably be an advantage if Mr, Cownie and I
called at your office to discuss matters with you, and I should be
much obliged if you would be good enough to arrange for an interview.
