To The Under Secretary of State,

The Colonial Office, Londen.

sir,

Hong Kong South Development Schiene.

I have the honour to acknowledge receipt of your Sov letter 18448/1918, of the 19th, instant, for which I am much

abliged.

I have to state that a telegram was dispatched to

the Selaciters in Hong Kong on the 10th, instant giving them

certain information as to the probable cost of the light

railway.

I trust on the receipt of the dispatch from Hong Kong

referred to in your letter you will see your way to telegraph

to the lang Kong Government as requested in the last paragraph

of my letter of the 9th, instant as, until the Hong Kong Gov- 53.

ernment letter (1988/1913 dated 5th February 1918.) is rescinded

it is not seen what action can be taken by the promoters, or

7

their Solicitors, to form the Company or obtain the evidence,

required by the Government before the Agreement can be executed,

of the financial backing for the Scheme.

As I am well acquainted through first hand knowledge

with the conditions, both in Hong Kong and in England, I trust

I may be given an opportunity to discuss the matter with you

should there be any hesitation on your part to rescind the Hong

kong Government lotter referred te.

Thanking you for the prompt action you have taken,

I have the honour to be, Sir,

Your Obedient Servant,

6.T. Willian
