REG 15 AUG 18

August 1918.

152/1918

I have laid before the Lords Commissioners of

His Majesty's Treasury r Grindle's letter of the 10th

instant relative to a further war contribution of £300,000

from Hongkong; and I am to request that a cordial

expression of Their gratitude for this further gift may

be sent to the Legislature of Hongkong.

As in the case of the previous gift it would be

convenient if this gift could be paid to the Treasury

Chest Officer Hongkong and My Lords would be much obliged,

if the Governor sees no objection, if he would inform that

officer accordingly.

My Lords would be glad to receive copies of any

ordinances relating to this gift and to the previous gift

of £250,000 in order that They may in due course present a

Minute to Parliament recording these generous gifts.

The Under Secretary of State,

Colonial Office.

I am,

Sir

Your obedient Servant,

Wal Calmer,
