I am instructed by the Director of the War Trade
Department to refer to your letter of the 5th instant
and the letter from this Department of the 27th instant,
relative to the export of goods for Switzerland in
Japanese vessels, and I am to enclose herewith, for the
information of Mr. Secretary Long, copies of a letter
and enclosure which have been received from the Foreign
Office on the subject.
In deference to the views expressed therein, Lord
Emmott is of opinion that it is not desirable that any
change should be made by which goods may be exported to
that destination by the vessels in question.
I am,
Sir,
The Under Secretary of State, etc. etc., Colonial Office.
