Colonial office.

With reference to our conversation this

morning regarding R.C.Barlow, the facta as far as I

know, are as follows :-

On the 25th February the Frovost Marshal's

Department,War Office, rang me up and asked for

Barlow's address, as he had, while awaiting General

Court Martial, escaped from custody on the 17th

January.

As we were unable to give the address,

the War Office asked us to telephone if he called

for his allowance, in order that they might come

to arrest him. He called on the 4th April, and was

duly caught.

We had 2 letters from him in April, asking

for his allowance to be sent to him, in which he

still signed himself, Lieutenant,Machine Gun Corpa.

and heard nothing more until we had a letter from

him at the end of May, when he stated he was a

Frivate in the ranks of the 4th Leicester Regiment,
