with your letter of the 29th of June 1917, with your

No. 31689,, concerning the staff of the British

Post Office Agencies in China, I am directed by the

Postmaster General to transmit herewith, for the

information of the Secretary of State for the Colonies

a copy of correspondence with the Postmaster

General of Hong Kong regarding a proposal that the

staff of the Agencies, whose conditions of service

in other respects are now those of Hong Kong

officers should be required to contribute to the

Hong Kong Widows' and Orphans Pension Fund.

It will be seen that the Postmaster General of

Hong Kong takes the view that the staff are not

eligible
