Adverting to the correspondence with your letter of the 29th of June 1917, No. 31689, concerning the staff of the British Post Office Agencies in China, I am directed by the Postmaster General to transmit herewith, for the information of the Secretary of State for the Colonies, a copy of correspondence with the Postmaster General of Hong Kong regarding a proposal that the staff of the Agencies, whose conditions of service in other respects are now those of Hong Kong officers, should be required to contribute to the Hong Kong Widows' and Orphans Pension Fund.

It will be seen that the Postmaster General of Hong Kong takes the view that the staff are not eligible.
