I am obliged for your letter of the 3rd instant with reference to the vacancy for en Apothecary in Hong Kong.
I am requested to inform you by my medical attendant, that as I am suffering from a Prolapse of the Rectum, with its usual complication and sickness, dysentry etc. that it is utterly impossible for me to proceed abroad especially to Hong Kong.
I should be glad to receive your commenta upon the subject, and should you agree with the medical adviser, to inform the Officers Appoint- ments Department, Ministry of Labour, Gresham House, Old Broad Street, B.C. of the same, in order
to show that as a disabled officer, I am perfectly willing, but it is a physical impossibility.
The return of my enclosures will oblige.
