Gentlemen,
In reply to your letter of the 20th August concerning a piece of plate which the Government of Hong Kong has decided to present me, I beg to inform you that, as suggested by yourselves, I have elected some ching which I think suitävle.
The piece is a good copy in solid silver of a George III centre piece. I have added to it a plateau (à genuine George III Sheffield plate) and have instructed Messrs. Spinks of 17 and 18 Piccadilly, who are supplying both the centre piece and the plateau to have the whole properly casel in a polished wood box.
Messrs. pinka suggest that the inscription be engraved on the rim of the plateau and await an instruction to this effect.
I enclose a sketch of the centre piece which you may like to forward to the Government of Hong Kong; if, how- ever, you do not consider this necessary will you please return it to
me.
I am, &c.
