I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your
1/236lettersdated 9th, May and 5th. June, enclosing copies of a despatch and
telegram respectively, with regard to the pumping plant erected at
Tytam Tuk.

The correspondence has been referred to the Consulting
6.18 Engineer as auggested and a copy of his reply is attached. It will
be noted that Mr.Fairley expresses the opinion that the question of
compensation for delay in erecting the plant is prejudiced by delay
on the part of the Colonial Government in granting access to the site,

Mention, is made in the Governor's telegram dated 3rd,May
of considerable expense having been occasioned by unserviceableness
of the engine, If we are desired by the Colonial Government to take any
action in this respect we should be furnished with the fullest
possible particulars and details.
