With reference to your letter of the 23rd February 1917

No.7882 and to previous correspondence, I have the honour to enclose

straits.

a copy of a telegram from the Government of Hong Kong respecting

the payment in connection with the Eastern Mail subsidy for the

quarter ending the 30th September last. The payment of £2,518,5.0

was made by us to the General Post Office on the 28th September.

2. We shall be glad to know if the Secretary of State

wishes us to take up the matter, or whether he will communicate

with the General Post Office direct.
