With reference to your predecessor's
Despatch Miscellaneous of the 25th. November, 1915, regarding the registration of claims by British subjects in respect of
property requisitioned, sequestrated, or destroyed by Enemy
Governments, I have the honour to transmit here with for the
consideration of the Foreign Claims Office, a Declaration by
Mr. John Hennessey Seth of this Colony, relating to the loss
of certain jewellery, the property of himself and his wife,
valued at £2,035 on the occasion of the sinking of the S. 8.
"Yasaka Maru" in December, 1915, by enemy action.

I take this opportunity to request that
I may be supplied with a copy of the requisite form of
Declaration in respect of such claims for future use, and I
would further ask that the form of Mr. Seth's present
Declaration may, in the circumstances, be accepted by the
Foreign Claims Office, although it may possibly differ in
some respects from the form that should properly have been
used.
