In reply to your letter No. 2 in 3245/1914, dated
the 29th, instant, I am directed to state that the S. S. *C. Ferd Laeisz arrived at Hongkong on the 27th. August, 1914, flying the French Flag and in the charge of a Prize Crew of the French Cruiser "Duplaix" which came into the harbour about the same time. The Assistant Provost Marshal took over the German Prisoners from the French Naval Officer in charge of the S. S. "C. Ferd Laeisz" and the French Prize Crew rejoined the "Dupleix" immediately afterwards. The S. S. *C. Ferd Laeisz" lay for some weeks afterwards in Kowloon Bay still flying the French
Flag.
