With reference to your Confidential
Despatch of 30th. September last, I have the honour to inform you that I consider the following inscription might appropri- -ately be engraved on the piece of plate selected by Mr. D.
Jaffé:-
"Presented to Mr. D. Jaffé by the Colony of
Hongkong, in appreciation of his most
valuable services in connection with the
construction of the Taitam Tuk Reservoir,
which he designed and carried to completion";
with a date added.
