GOVERNMENT HOUSE,

Sir,
With reference to the Governor's telegram
of the 10th. November, 1917, regarding the Tanderages property
1 at the Peak, I have the honour to report that Sir Henry May,
immediately prior to his departure from the Colony, arranged that the rent which I pay for the house as Colonial Secretary
should be remitted while I hold the office of Officer
Administering the Goverment.
The circumstances are that the weather is
not yet sufficiently cool to make it convenient for me to reside at Government House, though I propose to go there shortly; and in the meantime a transfer of residence from Tanderages to Mountain Lodge at the Peak did not suit my private arrangements.
I have the honour to be,
Sir.
Your most obedient,
humble servant,
Clustevem
Officer Administering the Government,
1
THE RIGHT HONOURABLE
WALTER LONG, M.P.,
