With reference to the Commodore

No. 024 of the 16th. June, 1917, I am directed to inform

you that the Harbour Office is open until 4 p.m. on

Saturdays and from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Sundays and

holidays, during which hours an European Officer is always

in attendance.

2

The Shipping Office at the Sailors' Home

is in telephonic communication with the Harbour Office, so

that if some short notice is given, arrangements can be

made to sign on crews or to make out the necessary arteles

without delay.

3.

All entering, clearing, and issuing of

Sunday Working Permits is done at the Harbour Office. The

First Boarding Officer, Mr. Molver, lives over the Harbour

Office, so that if any urgent matter should arise outside

of office hours, he can be communicated with, either by

telephone No. 50 or by letter, when he will deal with the

matter or if necessary apply to the Harbour Master for

instructions.

4.

I am to request that the Naval Authorities

will give the earliest information possible to the Harbour

Office of prospective arrivals of vessels during Sundays

and holidays.

The Secretary to the Commodore,

Hongkong.

I am, etc..

(Bd.) Claud Severn.

Colonial Secretary.
