Sir,
HONGKONG.
CO 51027
220 OCT 3)
GOVERNMENT HOUSE,
31st. August, 1918.
342
I have the honour to tra
a letter from Mr. Alfred Morris, Headmaster of the saiyingpun school, in which he requests that I will submit his request for an increase of salary to you. The request, as you will see from paragraph 1 of his letter to me of the 29th. June is that his salary may be increased from its present incre- mental scale of £300 rising to £550, to one of £540 rising
to £600.
2.
Mr. Morris is at present drawing a
salary of £495e year and will reach his maximum salary
on the 11th. February, 1922, He draws special attention
to the fact that the salary,
salary if the Headmaster of the Ellis Kadoorie School is on the scale 2540 to £600, although it
ia also a District School. This is so; but when the
Government took over the Ellie Kadoorie School it was
considered desirable to place at the head of it one of
senior masters in the department, who would otherwise have
been a candidate for the post of second master at Queen's
College, and to pay him the salary of that post. If a
successor were appointed he would draw the salary of an
Assistant Master (2300 to £560).
THE RIGHT HONOURABLE
80..
WALTER LONG, K. P.,
