With regard to Colonial Office Circular Despatch dated 7th. September, 1916, and to my letter No. 6205 of the 4th. of November, 1916, addressed to Your Excellency, I have the honour to put forward the following additional names for honourable mention in connection with

the Var:-

HONG KONG DEFENCE CORPS,

(1). CAPTAIN JOHN HENRY WILLIAN ARMSTRONG

has done conspicuous good work continuously during the Var. Since the formation of the Hong Kong Defence Corps has had considerable extra work thrown on him as the Officer Commanding the Artillery Company.

(2). CAPTAIN GEORGE EDWARD STIWART

Became Adjutant of the Hong Kong Volunteer Corps on 9th. May, 1917, helped considerably in the formation of the Hong Kong Defence Corps. Has been Adjutant of the Defence Corps since the formation on lat. of September 1917 and has devoted the whole of his spare time to these duties. His Bervices have been invaluable.

(3). CAPTAIN FREDERICK WILLIAM JAKES.

(attached).

Haa had a great deal of extra work in the organizing of a Section of the Defence Electric Lights and has

taken a good deal more than his share of duties.

Was attached to the Corps with the rank of Captain

from 14th. September 1915 since which date has done continuous service.

(4). LIEUTENANT ARTHUR EDGAR VRIGHT.
