April, 1918, I have the honour to transmit a copy of a letter received from the Hongkong General Chamber of Commerce agreeing to the extension of the grant of $1,000 per annum to 5 years and to ask your sanction to my extending the Gover- -ment grant proposed in my Despatch under reference for a similar period.
