With reference to the telegraphic cor-

-respondence noted in the margin,

I have the honour to request Your Excellency to be so kind es to

convey to the authorities of the

Rockefeller Institute the grateful thanks of the Govern-

ment of Hongkong for the generous help rendered by them in

sending First Lieutenant Peter K. Olitsky to study the

outbreak of Cerebro-spinal fever in this Colony and for supplying serum free of cost.

First Lieutenant Olitsky arrived on

the 6th May and it was on his recommendation that I tele-

graphed on the 14th May to the effect that only the serum

already manufactured should be sent.

I take this opportunity of thanking

Your Excellency for your kind offices in this matter.
