Rondlosure!.

Sir,

In continuation of my Confidential Des-

-patch of the 5th. February, I have the honour to forward a copy of a report by the Superintendent of Imports and Exports regarding certain aspects of the Wolfram situation.

2.

With reference to the first paragraph of

the report, I may mention that the Chinese Authorities are fully aware of the valuable nature of the extensive deposits in the Kwong Tung Province, and the various parties who are contributing to the present political chaos are all trying to

make something out of the business. I enclose copies of two despatches and an extract from a raport by His Majesty's Consul-General at Canton on the subject.

3.

With regard to the second paragraph of Mr.

Tratman's report, it would seem that the Ministry of Munitions

has made certain concessions in the matter of the fixed

maximum price for Wolfram. As however there is no freight

space available at present, the matter is not one of immediate

importance. It is understood that the Ministry of Shipping has

instructed the local representative of the Homeward Freight

Conference that Wolfram is not to be carried in British Ships 25561. under requisition. I telegraphed to you on this point today.

I take this opportunity to enclose a copy
