reflects great credit on the Director of Public Works and Mr.

Jaffé and on the staff employed under them on the work.

I would especially bring to your notice

the valuable services rendered by Mr. Jaffé who designed the

dam and has had direct charge of its erection and of the con-

-tingent works connected with the scheme; and I would suggest

that to mark the Government's appreciation of those services,

which have enabled considerable economy in the cost of the works, a piece of plate at a cost not exceeding £50 might

fittingly be presented to Mr. Jaffe.

If you concur in this suggestion I shall

be obliged if the Crow Agents may be authorised to purchase

and have inscribed a suitable article.
