Referring to my telegram of the 4th..

December last, I have the honour to forward a copy of a report

by Mr. D. Jaffé regarding the erection of the pumping machinery at the Taitam Tak Pumping Station.

2.

I shall be glad if the Crow Agents may be asked to refer to the Consulting Engineer the question of claiming compensation from Hessrs. James Simpson & Co., Ltd.,

the Contractors, in respect of the delay which has occurred.

The Crow Agents are in possession of former correspondence

from this Government on the subject.

3.

Up to the present time, owing to the old

engines being available and no breakdown having occurred, no

actual loss has been suffered from the delay in handing over

the new engines.
