One was well dressed in European style, with gold sleeve links and a gold watch. The others wore short fur-lined coats.

The police acted with great courage and are deserving of every praise for the way in which they dealt with an extremely difficult and dangerous situa tion. Sergte, Wills, Cockle, Murphy and Peplow and others constantly exposed themselves to grave risks in the execution of their duty. The Captain Superinten dent (Mr. Mel, Messer) was early on the scene, and later he was joined by Mr. P. P. J. Wodehouse, D.S.P., Mr. T. H. King, A.S.P., Mr. T. F. Hough, A.S. P. (R), Mr. Franks, A.S.P. (R.), and Major Robertson, the last named bringing the bombing party and machine-gun. A number of Police Re- servists, "ako, armed with rifles and revolvers, were present almost from the beginning.
