seemingly anxious over the uncertainty created by our
difficulties in estimating the probable cost of upkeep
of an extension of the Hospital at the present time, take
occasion to remind Major Atkinson and myself of the
duty of satisfying ourselves that proper arrangements will
be made for regulating the expenditure of whatever scheme
is proposed, before committing them to it.
Accordingly, should your Committee resolve to
proceed with the Hongkong Extension scheme, Major Atkinson
and myself, before acquiescing in the proposal to accoKINO
date it at No. 82 Eaton Square, desire to be assured that
the following procedure will be adopted in keeping the
accounts, Tiz:-

(a) That, independently of the Cash Account,
(b)
separate expenditure accounts for the equip-
ment and upkeep of the Extension shall be kept.
That the accounts for the Extension shall be
rendered monthly and shall be submitted to and
passed by the Finance Committee before any
payments are made.

That the method of keeping these accounts shall
be the uniform system for keeping hospital
accounts laid down by the King Edward's Hospital
Fund.
