The terms of this resolution were objected to
on the ground that it might be understood to mean that
your funds were to be applied solely to the Hongkong Exten-
sion. It was contended that your contribution had been
offered to the Hospital as a whole, which we were now inform-.
ed comprised not only the house at No. 37 Bryanston Square
but also two Convalescent Homes.
With the information
which we then had, we did not feel justified in contending
that all your funds should be devoted to the Hongkong
Extension, and it seemed to us that the best thing to do
was to get it put on record that the project would be
undertaken immediately, leaving over for further considera-
tion the question as to how far and in what manner the
surplus of Hongkong's funds were to be dealt with.
Accordingly, we altered our resolution, in
deference to the other members of the Committee to read
as follows
-:
RESOLVED that steps shall be taken to extend the Royal Flying Corps Hospital by the addition of another house in Bryanston Square or elsewhere in the neighbourhood, such addition to be named the Royal Flying Corps Hospital, Hongkong Extension, cost of upkeep to be a first charge upon the contribution from the War Charities
Committee.
