Treaty Ports in China urge that compensation be granted to naval and
17. military officers on the same basis as that given by the Hongkong
Government to the civil service there.
My Committee are unanimous in endorsing this appeal and as the
hardship is very great they respectfully express the hope that His
Majesty's Government will give the matter their most favourable con-
sideration.
