Dear Sirak-
Handelsvereenging Voorheen J. Mohrmann & Co., Macassar.
Your draft 17994 30 d/s June 24th, 1916 8293.20 July 22nd 1916 63.56
18212
We are in receipt of your letter of to-day's date with regard to the above documentary drafts, and in reply beg
to state that in the same manner as the goods were accepted by
the Toyo Kisen Kaisha Steamship Co., we accepted these bills, in good faith, not noticing that the drawees name appeared on
the Statutory List of firns blacklisted by His Majesty's
Government.
When, however this was pointed out to us by a cable
received from our Hongkong Office, and reported to you, you
lost no time in refunding us the amounts of the drafts plus accumulated interest, also insyruction us to turn the shipment
over to the firm of Stephens Paul & Co. You are therefor the bona fide owners of the cargo and as it is our belief, strengthened by the fact of the shipment being so small, that you made shipment under the same misapprehension that led us to negotiate the drafts, we trust that the authorities in Hong kong will make all due allowances, and see their way soon to
release the cargo.
Yours faithfully,
(SGD) THOS. $. BAKER (AGENT) of HongKong &
