Arnhold in Hong Kong of the Trade Marks of the old firm,

assuming they are allowed to resume business, the Board are

not prepared to advise that any action should be taken which

would be contrary to the general commercial feeling in Hong Kong, or to dissent from the proposals contained in paragraph 4 of your letter, if such a course is in Mr. Long's opinion desirable in view of the situation in Hong Kong.

As the emergency legislation in Hong Kong has proceeded on different lines from those followed in this country, it would appear that different considerations may arise. If the fim is wholly wound up there would not apparently be the same continuity as in the case of the business in the United Kingdom.

I am to add that the possible bearing of the severance of relations between China, and Germany upon the subject of enemy Trade Marks in Hong Kong is dealt with in a letter of

even date.
