I am directed to inform you that Mr. 0.5. Tacchi, Overseer, Public Works Department, has been granted permission to proceed to England for the purpose of joining His Majesty's Forces. He sailed on the s.8. "Katori Maru" on the 7th June, 1917. He has been paid

up to and including the 6th June and is entitled to full pay from the 7th June inclusive.
I am to request you to be so good as to pay him his salary from this date and when he le accepted for service by the Naval or Military Authorities to may him in accordance with the instructions contained in Colonial
Office Circular Despatch of the 31st August 1914, IT Tacchi has been instructed to report himself to you on arrival to make any necessary arrangemente.

Mr. Tacchi's pay is 2220 per annum from which should be deducted 28.16.0 for Widows and Orphans Pensions.
Mr. Tacchi is 37 years of age, an Ingineer
by trade, and holds a 2nd. and Chief Farine Engineer 'a
Certificate. He is married and his wife and child have accompanied him to England.
It is understood that the steamer will call
at Liverpool and I am to request you to be so good as to pay Mr. Tacchi the sum of £0.10.0 to cover his family's travelling expenses to London.
