With reference to your letter No.40168/1916 of the 24th August authorising us to issue until further notice, an allowance from Hong Kong funds, of 30/- per month to Mrs.
Rose Smith, mother of the late Police Constable .C.Wakeford,
I have the honour to enclose a copy of a letter which we have received from her enquiring whether the allowance will De pemanent, and to ask the instructions of the Secretary of State in the matter.
2. We understand that Mrs. Smith is claiming a pension from Army funds and we have asked the Far Pensions Committee, Ramsgate, to notify us in the event of a pension being granted to her.
