GOVERNMENT HOUSE,
HONGKONG. 14th. November, 1917.
sir,
I have the honour to enclose a copy of a letter from the Revd. T. W. Pearce, the head of the London Mission in Hongkong, in which he enquires whether the Government would be willing to make a grant of $20,000 towards the cost of new school buildings on a site adjacent to the present school.
2.
Sir F. H. May considered that a good case had been made out for a grant, and I would ask for your approval of a grant of $20,000 from public funds, half the sum to be included in the Estimates for the year 1919, and the remainder in the Estimates for the year 1920. I may add that the Director of Education is of opinion that the educational scheme outlined by Mr. Pearce is deserving of every support.
I have the honour to be,
Sir,
Your most obedient,
humble servant,
Ciburshvem
Officer Administering the Government.
