Rege 31 DECIZthere & Co.,

In Hongkong-

I hereby bag to apply to H. E. the Governor, on

behalf of my brother and myself, to have the Goodwill and Chops of Messrs. Arnhold, Karberg & Co., in Hongkong, assigned to us, and to be allowed to make full use of such Chops.

The firm of Arnbeld, Karberg & Co., was a London partnership (empiring 31st. December, 1915) subject to the laws of Great Britain, and the goodwill thereof me vested in my brother and myself. Consequently, His Majesty's Government treated the firm in London as a British firm with assets in an enemy country, and has allowed the firm to contime trading under the same name in both London and New York.

Unfortunately, this was impossible at the time, owing to the many other difficulties which I had to

overcome elsewhere,

I understand that the mây sbjection raised by the Board ✔ Trade is the absence of continuity of trading, but I beg to point out that had I been able toproceed to Hongkong at the time and been successful in stopping the liquidation, this continuity
