3.if working by contract the wasée shall be at least as

high as if the labourera had been working for daywoges

during the contracted time.

If the contracted time be exceeded, the amount agreed

upon the work shall not be increased. The amount agreed

upon, can however be reduced by the amount of the wages

of other workmen, who, according to the opinion of the

Administrator, were necessary to finish the work contrast-

ed for within the time agreed upon or to finish it

satisfactorily.

4.Work done overtime, not performed either on piecework or

by contract, shall be paid for by the Bataafsche Petrol sun

Maatschappy at the rate of:

1/5 of the daywages on Sunday usual working days

3/20 of the daywages on Sundays and General holidays

3/10 of the daywages on Chinese New Year for each hour

or part of an hour over and above the nine hours per

diem during which they have worked.

B. To be paid as follows:-

1.The Bataafsche Petroleum Company shall have the right to

pay part of the wages of the labourere:

a. in rice of good quality, up to a quantity, sufficient

for the sustenance of the labourer and his family

and at such a price, that no profit be made on it by

the company.

b. by supplying the necessary food for the sum of 14

gente (N.I.ourrency) per diem.

2.The part of the wages, nct being paid in rios or other

food, as well as the advances on such wages, shall be

paid in Netherlands Indian currency.

3.Wages due to the labourers, as far de same have to be

paid in money, shall be paid monthly, fortnightly, weekly

or daily at the option of the administrator. If paid monthly, part of such wages shall be advanced fortnightly

at the request of the labourerB.

4.The labourers shall have a right to their daywages for
